Artificial Intelligence & Recruitment Policy
Last updated: September 2026
We believe technology should make recruitment more efficient, responsive and accessible — but decisions about people should be made by people.
Our approach is simple:
AI supports our people. It does not replace them.
Our Human-First Commitment
100% of our recruitment interviews are conducted by people.
We do not use AI avatars, AI interviewers or automated systems to replace human interviewers.
100% of recruitment decisions are made by people.
AI does not independently decide whether an applicant is progressed, rejected, offered an opportunity or accepted or declined within our recruitment process.
Responsibility and decision-making authority remain with our people.
How We Use AI
We use AI and automation to support the administrative side of our recruitment process.
This may include processing and organising applications, summarising information, managing recruitment workflows, scheduling and highlighting information for our recruitment team to review.
AI may help our team work faster and more efficiently, but it does not make recruitment decisions.
All interviews are conducted by people, and all decisions about an applicant’s progression or suitability are made by people.
What AI Does Not Do
We do not allow AI to independently:
- Conduct recruitment interviews
- Make final decisions about an applicant’s suitability
- Decide who receives an offer
- Reject an applicant without human involvement
- Replace the judgement of our recruitment team
- Make employment or engagement decisions without human oversight
Where technology provides information, classifications or recommendations, our people retain the authority to review, question, disregard or override them.
Human Oversight
Our recruitment team remains responsible for the recruitment process.
Recruiters and hiring managers are expected to use their own judgement and consider the information available to them rather than simply accepting an AI-generated output.
If information produced by an AI system appears inaccurate, incomplete or inappropriate, our team can disregard it and assess the applicant directly.
Fairness
We aim to provide applicants with a fair and consistent recruitment experience.
AI and automation must not be used as a substitute for individual human judgement or as a means of intentionally discriminating against applicants.
We recognise that AI systems can make mistakes and that automated processing can introduce unintended bias. Human oversight is therefore an important part of our approach.
Your Information
Recruitment technology may process information that applicants provide to us, including information contained within CVs, applications and recruitment communications.
Personal information used within our recruitment systems is handled in accordance with applicable data protection requirements and our Privacy Policy.
We use recruitment information for legitimate recruitment, administration, compliance and related business purposes.
Your Right to Raise a Concern
We want applicants to understand how technology is being used during their recruitment journey.
If you believe information about you has been incorrectly processed, misunderstood or represented by one of our systems, you can raise this with our recruitment team and request human review.
Raising a concern about the use of AI or requesting human review will not, by itself, disadvantage you within our recruitment process.
Our Responsible AI Commitment
As AI technology develops, we will continue to review how it is used within our recruitment processes.
Our principles remain:
- Human interviews.
- Human decisions.
- Responsible use of technology.
- Fair treatment of applicants.
- Clear human accountability.
AI can help us work faster, communicate more effectively and provide applicants with a better recruitment experience.
But when it comes to decisions about people, people remain responsible.
